FireMon Offers Skybox Customers a Confident Path Forward

2025.06.23

With Skybox shutting down, FireMon steps up with flexible contracts, better tech, and full partner support.

Skybox Closed Their Doors: What Does That Mean to Your Customers?

This year, Skybox closed their doors, ceased all operations, decommissioned their website and left their employees and customers to fend for themselves.
At the same time, Skybox sold all of their business and technology to one of their prior competitors, Tufin.

What did Tufin purchase and what has been messaged to customers?

In a statement published on Tufin’s website yesterday, the company’s CEO Ray Brancato wrote:

"On February 24, 2025, Skybox made the difficult decision to close its operations effective immediately. For those impacted by this event, we understand this is an uncertain time, and we want to assure you that Tufin is here to help plot your path forward. As the leader in Network Security Policy Management, we are committed to providing a smooth transition for Skybox customers, ensuring you have the tools, expertise, and guidance to continue securing your networks without disruption. Tufin is the most financially stable company in our industry — we are profitable, growing, and well-positioned for the future. We know that Skybox customers have been impacted by their sudden closure, and we want to reassure you that Tufin is here for the long run."

What does this mean to your customers?

If your customer made the decision to purchase Skybox, odds are that they evaluated other NSPM solutions, including Tufin and made the decision to buy Skybox.

Regardless of Tufin purchasing all of Skybox’s customer contracts, that doesn’t mean that customers will now want to automatically migrate to Tufin, especially since they chose to buy Skybox originally.

More importantly, for Skybox customers who need technical support today, Tufin knows nothing about Skybox technology or how to troubleshoot customer issues.

What should you do to help your customers?

As your customers lean on you to help them navigate how they should proceed and ask you for guidance on which NSPM solution they need to assess, FireMon is here to help you and your customers through that evaluation.
We are sensitive to what these customers have just experienced, and we are committed to doing everything we can to make this transition as easy and seamless for them as possible.

We don’t want your customers to be forced to make a bad decision.

For any remaining Skybox support contract terms, they have and are now obligated to pay Tufin for, we will structure creative contract terms, so they do not have to worry about paying both the remaining term of their Skybox contract to Tufin while also paying for a new contract with FIreMon.

Why should your customers evaluate FireMon?

1.) Skybox customers loved a feature in their platform that was for attack path simulation.

  • FireMon has the same functionality that shows existing vulnerabilities, what content/data they could exploit and which access path they would take to reach their desired destination.
  • Tufin does not have this functionality

2.) When customers do a POC evaluation between FireMon vs. our competitors, customers choose FireMon over +90% of the time based on our performance, scalability and compliance capabilities.

3.) Several other reasons customers choose us are:

  • Global footprint with resources in all geo’s
  • Successfully scale to meet the needs of the world’s largest organizations
  • Our compliance engine that has the most mature and robust domain expertise
  • Threat visualization and simulation
  • Vulnerability management
  • Persona based dashboards with AI search functionality
  • Our professional services and customer success teams are outcome based vs. line-item time bound pricing. We do not consider an engagement completed until our customers have achieved the outcome we defined in our statement of work, regardless of how long that takes
  • TCO of overall solution and of our professional services

Additionally, here's a recent IDC report we sponsored in case you have not seen it. The IDC team did a great job putting this report together which speaks to the importance of attack surface management, which is not discussed enough as it relates to effective firewall policy management and the need to integrate threat intelligence into firewall policy management.

Key points covered:

  • Expanding attack surface
  • Growing complexity
  • Compliance as differentiator
  • Risk reduction
  • Operational efficiency
  • Cost impacts +/-
  • Importance of automation

Being a FireMon partner, you know why we are the NSPM market leader and that we value our partners' trust and partnership above all.  Being a 100% channel organization, we know our partners are critical not only to our success but to our customers' success.

We are committed to helping you and your customers through this difficult time and look forward to working together to make this a seamless transition.

To support partners and customers during this transition, FireMon has created a detailed Skybox Migration Guide – outlining key considerations, feature comparisons, and best practices to ensure a smooth and confident shift to a modern NSPM platform.
